Madge Boyle 100% Wool Product hand washing instructions.
You can air wool products regularly rather than washing them.
Here is how to wash woollen items if you do.
Water
Hand wash in cool to warm water approx. 30 degrees (not hot water as heat can tighten wool fabric).
Detergent - we would recommend Ecover Wool & Silk Laundry Liquid, which is a plant-based, biodegradable formula with Woolmark approval.
Soak
Let it soak for a few minutes then gently lift it and squeeze the detergent water from it then rinse in clean water. You can add an oil-based conditioner to the water if you prefer.
Spin
I usually put it in a pillowcase and put it in the spinner for a short spin, then dry on a clothes horse/flat knitwear drier. Place it in its original shape over three or four cross rungs/ bars of the drier.
Press
Once dry you can lightly steam with an iron holding the iron about 5inches or 10cm above the garment.
Bobble
It will naturally bobble after being worn as the loose fibres will rub together near the surface but these can be removed by hand or using a sweater comb. If you do this the first few washes it will naturally cease to occur.
Enjoy the high frequency that wool brings to your energy field.
